Spark Math FAQ
Q. Who is VISPARK?
A. VISPARK is a global online education service dedicated to improving children's learning experiences and helping them achieve excellence. VISPARK is part of Spark Education Group, which includes programmes that have attracted over 500,000 students ages 3-15 worldwide in over 100 countries. Our other brands and products include Allschool, Classpod, Spark Chinese, and Huohua Siwei.
Q. What makes Spark Math different?
A. Our technology, curriculum and our experienced teachers set us apart from other advanced math programmes. Our app-based platform is designed to engage students in an interactive way and enable personalised learning. Our curriculum is aligned with the MOE syllabus and features the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach, which enables students to visualise and retain complex concepts through games, puzzles, stories and more. The gamified elements, combined with animation and in-class discussions, makes Spark Math engaging and maximises students' learning potential.
Q. How does Spark Math work with traditional classroom learning?
A. Spark Math offers a convenient approach to learning. Families can schedule their classes at dedicated times that work for them. Students can attend classes from anywhere, as long as they have a working device and a stable internet connection. The Spark Math curriculum will teach students concepts and content ahead of the school curriculum.
Q. Can I use Spark Math as our home school math programme?
A. Absolutely! Our teachers are excited to work with children at all stages of their math learning and are well equipped to be the primary source of math education.
Q. What sets Spark Math teachers apart?
A. At Spark Math, we work with qualified and experienced teachers who are trained to guide your child. All of our teachers have prior teaching experience with expertise in coaching math. Our teachers are dedicated to your child and to helping them reach their fullest potential.
Q. How do teachers interact with students?
A. Our classes utilise our in-house online platform that is built for conducive discussion and learning. It features a function that allows teachers to see and interact with students privately to help guide them as needed while the students are working individually. Students will also receive personalised feedback from teachers on their assignments and video presentations.
Q. What is gamified learning?
A. Gamified learning is a highly effective teaching method that uses fun and engaging games to allow your child to not just enjoy math, but also be able to visualise and thoroughly comprehend the advanced concepts that they are learning.
Q. Is Spark Math right for my child?
A. Spark Math is designed for students from Kindergarten 2 to Primary 4, and families who want to build strong foundational math skills to help their children excel. The programme has proven to accelerate mathematical fluency, increase interest in learning math, and self-confidence.
Q. How do I know that my child is in the right class?
A. Your child will go through an assessment prior to their first class to ensure that they are placed in the right class. If it's determined that the class they're in isn't the right fit (they are either ahead of the curriculum or would be better suited in a lower level curriculum), the teacher will be able to assist with feedback and get your child where they need to be to achieve their very best.
Q. Is Spark Math a remedial programme?
A. No, Spark Math is an advanced math programme designed to help children master challenging math principles ahead of the school curriculum.
Q. Do you have math competition prep classes?
A. Yes, we do! Our Spark Math Competition Programme is designed to prepare your child for advanced placements, gifted programmes as well as for math olympiads and competitions such as Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO), Singapore Math Kangaroo Contest (SMKC) and more.
Q. What other resources are provided?
A. In addition to the support of our live teachers and online platform, Spark Math sends students a monthly learning toolkit that is delivered to your doorstep. The toolkit is a resource package that includes math workbooks and materials that complement their Spark Math programme journey.
